I have started this new real estate business, and I have been thinking a lot recently about how best to promote it.
The obvious question is: “What’s your USP”
To which the answer is: Our USP is $10,000 including GST & marketing for listing and selling a property.
Boom! There you go!
The thing that has been worrying me though, is that if I make a big song and dance about this, I will annoy, and even alienate other real estate agencies, whose fees are (quite a lot) higher.
The next obvious questions are:
“Are you mad?”
“Why would you care what other agencies think?”
And there’s the thing - why would I care? Maybe it’s just me not wanting to make waves.
It’s clear that if I don’t want to upset anyone, hitting the NZ real estate market with a $10k flat fee agency in 2026 is not the way to go.
They are all going to say ‘He can’t do it’, ‘He won’t be around in 12 months’, ‘It must be a sub-standard service’, and, no doubt, many other predictions.
But I can. And, by the way it’s not - a sub-standard service. It just doesn’t cost as much.
So, I guess now, I’d better start making some noise about it.
